Rate Limiting

Rate limiting is a feature of FileFlex Enterprise that can be enabled by the administrator to manage company bandwidth use, that caps or limits the total user transfer capacity, upstream or downstream, of data through the FileFlex server.

Administrators can limit the monthly bandwidth that a user can consume. When the limit is reached, a daily limit is then imposed so that users can keep working effectively to remotely access, collaborate and share regular business documents such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, but modify their behavior to avoid excess or unnecessary use such as video sharing.

Users are notified at login if they are close to their limit. The monthly bandwidth allowances are reset every month. If a user has consumed their monthly allowance and been moved to daily limits, then the daily bandwidth allowance is reset every day until the monthly bandwidth allowance is reset the next month.
